PDP Slams Folarin, Urges Him Not to Blame Makinde for His Failure

The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized Teslim Folarin, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last general elections, advising him not to associate his failure in the polls with the state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde.

Responding to a recent statement credited to Folarin, the PDP expressed its disappointment in his attempt to shift blame. Folarin had claimed that his loss in the election was due to the APC’s arrangements to win the presidency.

Akeem Olatunji, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in the state, issued a statement to journalists, describing Folarin as a sore serial loser. Olatunji emphasized that Folarin lost his polling booth by over 100 votes.

Furthermore, Olatunji stated that Folarin only gained political relevance through the support of the late Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu, who had pushed him as an adopted political son. In contrast, Makinde emerged as governor through his own efforts.

“So, who threw him under the bus in his polling booth, ward, and local government? Furthermore, Folarin was a nobody as far as Oyo State politics was concerned in 2003 and 2007 when, as an opportunist, he became a Senator by chance,” Olatunji said.

He further expressed that the PDP would have ignored Folarin’s “reckless outburst” if not for his ingratitude. Olatunji deemed Folarin as undeserving of any political ranking and noted that he had consistently shown a self-destructive attitude.

“How can Folarin hate himself so much that he keeps punishing himself with psychological pain? Why can’t he wake up from his delusions and face the reality that Seyi Makinde is a political godfather to him and does not belong to his political class or league of politicians? What’s so hard in accepting these facts?” Olatunji questioned.
