In a scathing critique of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s time in office, former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has labeled Buhari as the worst ruler in Nigerian history. Speaking during the book launch of activist Moses Paul’s “The Nigerian Dream” in Abuja, Sani described Buhari’s eight-year tenure as a “waste” and criticized his appointments of individuals who failed to deliver on their promises.
Shehu Sani stated, “Buhari wasted Nigeria’s time for eight years. He appointed people who failed and extended their tenure in office. That is very wrong.” Sani highlighted the irony that Buhari, who consistently accused previous governments of corruption and blamed them for Nigeria’s woes, presided over a government that turned out to be the worst in Nigerian history.
During the book launch, the former lawmaker emphasized the need for Nigeria to become a united and prosperous nation by having leaders who “lead with the fear of God and a determination and commitment to fulfill their pledges.” He lamented that, even after 63 years of independence, Nigeria is still grappling with the same challenges of providing basic amenities such as light, water, education, and infrastructure.
Shehu Sani argued, “The Nigeria of our dream should be an improved version of what we inherited. It should be a nation that reflects the true aspirations of its first-generation politicians – a nation characterized by progress, unity, and development.”
