Josh Maja’s future at Girondis Bordeaux remains uncertain as the French Ligue 2 club aims to secure the Nigerian striker with a new contract.
Last week Friday, Maja’s contract with Les Girondis expired, making him a free agent and sparking rumors of potential transfers.
However, Girondis Bordeaux is determined to keep hold of the talented forward and is eager to finalize negotiations for a contract extension.
Club president Gerard Lopez expressed the club’s appreciation for Maja’s contribution, stating, “We had discussions. We really like Josh, he was also important during the season. He is a player who has opportunities elsewhere.”
Last season, Maja showcased his skills by netting an impressive 16 goals in 38 league games for Bordeaux. His remarkable performance caught the attention of other clubs, further fueling the transfer speculation surrounding him.
In January 2019, Maja joined Girondis Bordeaux from the English club Sunderland, making an immediate impact with his goal-scoring ability.
Maja’s future remains uncertain as the club seeks to secure a new contract for the prolific striker. However, if negotiations fall through, Maja may consider the tempting offers from other clubs.
