In a recent address to over 2000 vigilante operatives at the Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium in Nnewi, Anambra State, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, the representative for Anambra South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, made an important announcement. The lawmaker declared that there would no longer be a weekly sit-at-home protest in his constituency.

For the past two years, the Monday sit-at-home protest has had a detrimental impact on business opportunities in the area, with Senator Ubah expressing his concerns about its consequences. The sit-at-home protest was introduced by Simon Ekpa, a Finnish citizen and self-proclaimed disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). This protest was initiated as a form of demonstration against Kanu’s detention.

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, acknowledging that Ekpa has been seeking his attention, warned the secessionist against enforcing any sit-at-home activities in Nnewi. He urged Ekpa to start with his people in Ebonyi State, emphasizing that Nnewi would not tolerate such disruptions.

During his address, Senator Ubah highlighted the negative impact of the sit-at-home protests on jobs and business opportunities. He vowed to put an end to the weekly disruption, stating, “From this Monday, every business venture will be opened in Nnewi.”

Addressing Ekpa directly, Senator Ubah delivered a stern warning, saying, “This is your warning Simon Ekpa, for 17 good times, you have mentioned Ifeanyi Ubah. You have been seeking my attention, 17 good times, and I am replying to you today.”

He also criticized Ekpa’s attempts to belittle Nnewi and its people, stating, “You go for your job every Monday but you want to ridicule us because you have the internet to run propaganda. Start your sit-at-home from Ebonyi before you mention Anambra and Nnewi. I am telling you Simon Ekpa, be careful.”

With Senator Ifeanyi Ubah taking a stand against the sit-at-home protest and emphasizing the need for economic stability and growth, residents of Anambra South Senatorial District await the outcome of this decision, hoping for a revival of business activities and job opportunities in the area.
