In a move aimed at revitalizing the Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS), Governor Barr Peter Mbah has appointed Mr. Ladi Akeredolu-Ale as the new Managing Director of the organization. This strategic appointment comes as the state looks to turn its media service into a formidable revenue-generating entity.

The announcement of Mr. Akeredolu-Ale’s appointment was made in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia, on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. The statement highlighted the governor’s expectation that the veteran journalist would bring his 30 years of experience to bear in the transformation of the state broadcasting service.

Mr. Akeredolu-Ale’s impressive track record includes serving as the Controller of Current Affairs at Channels Television, Lagos State, prior to his new appointment. Throughout his distinguished career, he has been the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Nigeria Media Merit Award for Television Presenter and Reporter of the Year in 2001, the Diamond Award for Media Excellence as Reporter of the Year in 2004, and the Nigeria Media Merit Award Programme Presenter of the Year in 2019.

Throughout his career, Mr. Akeredolu-Ale has demonstrated his commitment to excellence and innovation in journalism. As the new managing director, he is expected to spearhead a media revolution within the organization, ushering in drastic reforms in media innovation and creativity. The goal is to transform ESBS into one of the leading revenue-generating organizations in Enugu State.

Mr. Akeredolu-Ale’s passion for broadcasting extends beyond his work at Channels Television. He previously served as the Director General and Chief Executive of Ondo State Radio and Television Corporation from March 2009 to February 2017, further showcasing his leadership and managerial abilities in the media industry.

Not only does Mr. Akeredolu-Ale possess decades of experience in journalism, but he also holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Sociology from the Universities of Ilorin and Lagos, respectively. Additionally, he is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School Chief Executive’s Programme of 2011, further solidifying his credentials as a capable and accomplished media professional.
