In a surprising turn of events, former Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell has recommended that the club sell their promising young striker, Folarin Balogun, for a staggering £50 million. Campbell further suggests that Arsenal should include a buy-back clause in the deal, allowing them the option to reacquire the player later on.
Balogun, who recently earned a call-up to the United States national team, is seeking increased playing time in the upcoming season and has consequently been linked with a potential move away from the Emirates Stadium.
During the previous season, the talented striker was loaned out to Ligue 1 side Stade Reims, where he showcased his immense potential by netting an impressive 21 goals in 37 league matches. This remarkable performance has proven that Balogun is more than capable of leading the line for a top-flight team.
However, with the presence of formidable strikers such as Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah ahead of him in the pecking order, Balogun’s opportunities for first-team action under manager Mikel Arteta may be limited. As a result, Arteta might consider parting ways with the young striker in order to generate a substantial profit, especially considering that Balogun is a product of the Hale End academy.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Campbell expressed his opinion on the possible transfer: “I would take £50 million with a buy-back clause, if you don’t mind. But even if it were £30 million, I would still insist on a buy-back clause.”
Recent reports from The Sun suggest that Arsenal are valuing Balogun at approximately £35 million.
