Police Dispel Concerns After Shooting in Ebonyi by IPOB’s Sit-at-Home Enforcers

The Ebonyi State Police Command has reassured the public that no lives were lost as a result of the seven-day sit-at-home order instigated by a faction of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The sit-at-home order, declared by Simon Ekpa from Finland, commenced on Saturday and will conclude on Friday.

Speaking to the press, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, emphasized that the group only resorted to sporadic shooting at various locations in order to intimidate individuals and enforce the sit-at-home order.

“Yes, the group arrived and fired shots sporadically at the new market opposite Liberation Estate. Our tactical team promptly responded, and people immediately dispersed. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded. Neither civilians nor police officers sustained any injuries. The police have significantly heightened patrols within the town and its surrounding areas,” she added.
