Painter in court for stealing guitar in church

A Dei-Dei Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday, remanded a 39-year-old painter, Darlington Chibundu, who allegedly stole a bass guitar and two wi-fi microphone receivers valued at N210,000 from a church.

Mr Chibundu, who resides at Koro, Dutse Alhaji, Abuja, pleaded not responsible the costs of prison trespass and stealing.

The decide, Saminu Suleiman ordered that the defendant must be remanded in the Correctional Service Facility in Suleja, till Aug. 8, when the case could be heard.

Earlier, the Prosecution counsel, Charity Nwaosu, advised the court that the defendant allegedly dedicated the offence on June 29.

Mr Nwaosu mentioned that one Francis Orji of Assemblies of God Church, Dutse Makaranta, Abuja, reported the matter on the Dutse Alhaji Police Station on June 29.

The prosecution mentioned that the complainant alleged that on the fateful day at 8.30 p.m., the defendant criminally trespassed into the church with out consent and stole a bass guitar and two wi-fi microphone receivers

She knowledgeable the court that the bass guitar was estimated to value N70,000 whereas the 2 wi-fi microphone receivers had been N140,000.

The prosecution mentioned throughout police investigation and interrogation the defendant made confessional assertion and the bass guitar and the 2 microphone had been recovered from him.

Mr Nwaosu mentioned that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 348 and  288 of Penal Code.
