NANS urges govs to give attention to education

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has called on state governors across the country to tread the paths of Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State by giving all the needed support to the education sector.

The call, which came on Friday via a press statement, was in reaction to the reduction of the tuition fees of the students of the state university.

The association in the statement signed by its National President, Usman Umar Barambu, said it said, “received with great joy and excitement the news of some major development in the educational section of Taraba State by His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas.”

The governor, during an unscheduled visit to Taraba State University,TSU, Jalingo, said he “gave an executive order of reduction of school fees by 50%.”

Also, on his assumption of office on May 29, 2023, the governor declared a state of emergency in the education sector.

His actions, they are certain, will go a long way in cushioning the hard effect of the economy on the people of Taraba State and will make education attractive and accessible to the common man.

The statement read partly, “In this era of economic hardship and rapid rise in prices of commodities and services with little or no increase in the minimum wage, the governor has continued to do the needful, especially in the education sector.”
