The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has refuted current media stories suggesting that files implicating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his shut aides had been carted away from its workplace by officers of the Department of State Service (DSS).
In a press release launched on Saturday, the spokesperson of the Commission, Azuka Ogugua, urged the general public to ignore these stories as false, baseless, and mere propaganda.
The ICPC emphasised that whereas the media performs a vital position in disseminating data, it’s important to stick to the rules of accountable journalism.
The anti-corruption company expressed concern over the non-adherence to journalistic ethics and known as on the media to not enable their platforms to be exploited for spreading subversive and deceptive stories.
“The commission firmly refutes the report by Saharareporters and unequivocally states that there were no files implicating President Tinubu or his close aides at our headquarters or any of our offices across the states. Therefore, the alleged carting away of these imaginary files is entirely baseless and should be disregarded by the public,” the assertion learn.
The Commission urged the general public to depend on credible and verified data from official sources and guaranteed them of its continued efforts to fight corruption in Nigeria.
