Ebonyi First Lady moves to revamp remand home

The wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs. Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, has promised to complete the reconstruction and renovation of the remand home in the state.

Mrs. Nwifuru, also pledged to be fully involved in the project to ensure that the children who are there are provided with a descent and befitting Centre where they’ll be guided through counselling sessions to become better persons.

The Wife of the Governor made these promises during her visit to the remand home in Abakaliki, the State Capital.

She charged the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in the state, Barrister Felicia Nwakpuma, to swiftly get an engineer to commence the project which will house a skill acquisition center to teach the minors how to be useful in the society.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Barrister Felicia Nwakpuma appreciated the Governor’s Wife for her visit and also thanked her for the relief materials she provided during the campaign period.

The Director of Child Development Department, Mr. Igwe Godwin, who appreciated the First Lady’s visit appealed to the state government to employ security men as well as supervisors to help in training and counselling the children.
