Obasanjo only democratically elected Yoruba president – Charly Boy

Maverick singer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has made a clarification about former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Charly Boy said Obasanjo was the only democratically elected Yoruba president.

Tweeting, he wrote: “Anything you like, say about Baba. As far as am concerned he’s the only DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED Yoruba President ever…

“Baba, nothing do you. I Twale for you. President Aremu Olusegun OBASANJO.”

In 1999, Obasanjo was elected as president and he ruled the country for eight years.

However, President Bola Tinubu was elected in 2023 after a much-contested election.

Despite his victory, the opposition had gone to court to challenge his emergence.

They claimed that the 2023 election was marred with electoral fraud, adding that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, rigged to favour Tinubu.
