A former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has mocked the loyalists of the immediate-past president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, saying that they have become orphans.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Adamu, had on Sunday resigned due to alleged ‘gang up’ against him by some close associates of President Bola Tinubu.
Posting on his Twitter handle on Monday, Mr Sani suggested that Mr Tinubu was ousting the loyalists of the former president out of the party.
“The Buharists are now orphans; they are purged in their part,” the Senator said.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Adamu, who was the preferred candidate of Mr Buhari, emerged as chairman during the party’s convention in March 2022.
In the buildup to the party’s primary election, the former Nasarawa State governor had announced former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, as preferred candidate of the APC.
But the presidency and state governors elected under the platform of the APC swiftly disowned Mr Adamu’s claim, declaring their allegiance to Mr Tinubu.
