Kaduna retirees lament non-payment of entitlements

Retirees of Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, have appealed to Governor Uba Sani to pay their retirement benefits to reduce the hardship they are going through.

In a statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the forum, Mr Bulus Kajang and Mr Emmanuel Nkom in Kaduna, the retirees noted that the non-payment of their accrued retirement benefits for over seven years has left them struggling to feed and meet up with other domestic responsibilities of their families.

According to the statement, “We have explored many possibilities besides making frantic efforts to see that our plight is addressed by the former Governor Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufa’i’s administration but to no avail.”

The statement noted that the ugly situation spanned for over seven years and has turned the majority of them into beggars despite their stretched 35 years of meritorious service to the Kaduna State Government.

It blamed the delay in payment of their benefits to the pension administrators and urged them to fulfil their obligation by paying their gratuities and placing them on their payroll.
