Sokoto State Government Settles School Fees of Over 7000 Students 

The Sokoto State Government in North Western Nigeria, has settled the school fees of over seven thousand students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University in the state.

Chairman of the Scholarship Clearance Committee, Barrister Nasiru Dantsoho who stated the development while briefing journalists on the exercise in Sokoto said the payment cuts across the twenty-three local government areas of the state.

According to Dantsoho, about students of ten local government areas have been cleared by the committee.

“We have cleared about ten local government so far and the money have already been disbursed to various students to settle their fees and prepare for their examination.

“Therefore, I urge the students to do everything possible to use the money and do their registration to enable you sit for your examinations,” the Chairman said.

He commended Governor Ahmad Aliyu for timely interventions and urged other states to emulate Sokoto state.

Responding on behalf of the students, the President Federation of Sokoto State Students, Comrade Abubakar Ahmad, applauded the state Governor for the gesture.

He assured the state government that the funds disbursed to the students would be use for the purpose it meant.

Comrade Ahmad said the gesture would encourage them to concentrate on their studies for the overall development of education in the state.
