Yobe Assembly approves 20 SAs for Gov Buni

Yobe State House of Assembly has approved the appointment of twenty special advisers by the State Governor, Mai Mala Buni.

The House gave the approval on Wednesday while considering a request presented by the executive arm of government.

Leading the debate on the motion, the majority leader of the House, Hon. Nasiru Hassan Yusuf said section 196 of the Constitution empowered the House to make the approval.

According to the House Leader, the appointment of special advisers will assist the Governor to provide more dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

In their separate contributions, members representing Gujba, Karasuwa and Geidam constituencies, Hon. Bulama Bukar, Hon. Adamu Dala Dogo and Hon. Bukar Mustapha, respectively, noted that the appointment of the special advisers would enable the Governor to provide more capable hands in running the government.

Presiding over the sitting, the Speaker of the House, Rt Honorable Chiroma Buba Mashio commended the members of the House for their support and cooperation.

In another development, the House has received the name of a nominee, Alhaji Kalilu Bukar Geidam for appointment as permanent member of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission, YOSIEC.

The name of the nominee has been sent to the ad-hoc committee set up by the House for screening of new appointees.
