A non-governmental organization in Nigeria, Global Initiative for Peace, Love and Care, GIPLC, has presented cheques of about N100million as medical fees to 19 children battling various illnesses.

The cheque covers medical fees and travel allowances in case of some of the children going for surgeries outside Nigeria.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony in Abuja, the GIPLC director-general and national coordinator, Nuhu Kwajafa, said the cash was raised at the birthday/charity dinner of the grand patron of the NGO, Igho Charles-Sanomi on May 20, 2023.

He said: “The Global Initiative for Peace Love and Care (GIPLC), a trailblazing NGO dedicated to addressing critical medical issues faced by children in Nigeria, is set to make a profound impact by presenting life-changing cheques totaling over N100million to Nigerian children requiring surgeries both within and outside the country.

“These funds, equivalent to approximately $160,000.00, were generously raised during a remarkable birthday/charity dinner held in Paris, France. The event, hosted by our esteemed Grand Patron, Igho Charles Sanomi, on May 20th, 2023, demonstrated the incredible power of compassion and unity in transforming lives.

According to Mr Kwajafa, there is no other feeling better than that of helping the less privileged, most especially children who are vulnerable.

He said: “The smiles on the faces of our beneficiaries, and their words of gratitude motivate my team and I @teamgiplc to want to do more.”

Speaking on the GIPLC activities, the national coordinator said the initiative has in the last 17 years since inception raised over $6m for children in Nigeria and abroad.

“Global Initiative for peace, love and care (GIPLC) is an NGO that supports vulnerable children’s needs, especially those in critical health conditions. In the last 17 years since our inception, we have raised over $6m for children in Nigeria and abroad (Eg, South Sudan).

“We concentrate on medicals for children because it is an everyday problem, and a huge challenge in our country given the state of the economy, and the poverty level of many common Nigerians.

“Presently, we have thousands of children across the country with various kinds of medical conditions, but are limited in our capacity to help.

“We honestly believe that the huge number of medically challenged children in Nigeria is a national crisis, and that the Government of the day should indeed declare a state of medical emergency on time.”

While calling on well-meaning Nigerians to partner with the initiative, Mr Kwajafa disclosed that GIPLC was planning to raise N500m – N1 Billion to support over 500 or more children on its waiting list.

According to him, after the N100m donation to 19 children, the number of requests for help and support via calls and emails has doubled.

“We are appealing to all well-meaning Nigerians to partner with us in our ‘Touching Lives Everyday’ Campaign.

“Life is not worth living if we cannot help those in need, most especially our world’s children. This is my lifetime vision, and I also call on you the media to partner with us on this onerous yet fulfilling lifetime journey of love and care,” Mr Kwajafa added.
