After spending 6 months in captivity, bandits threaten to marry off kidnapped Zamfara student, 3 other girls

Bandits who kidnapped a student of Zamfara State College of Art and Science, ZACAS, Gusau, Umulkhairu Musa, and three other girls have threatened to marry them off if their families fail to pay ransoms within a week.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the girls were abducted along Birnin Magaji-Kaura Namoda Road on January 15, while returning from a wedding ceremony.

It was gathered that Miss Musa was preparing for her final year exams at ZACAS when she got abducted.

Her coursemates have since graduated from the institution while she remained in captivity.

In May, this newspaper reported a video released by the terrorists showing the girls pleading for rescue.

The terrorists were seen flogging and manhandling the girls while they wailed and cried profusely.

However, in a fresh video obtained by DAILY NIGERIAN on Saturday, the girls appealed to the Zamfara State governor, Dauda Lawal, to come to their rescue and prevent them from being married off to terrorists.

Ms Musa, who was the first to speak, said, “Dear parents, we are begging you in the name of God to come to our rescue. We are in a very terrible situation. We have spent 174 days in this forest, or approximately six Months. We are begging you in the name of God to rescue us.

“The former governor couldn’t rescue us. Please, Governor Dauda Lawal Dare, we are appealing to you to come rescue us. They have threatened to marry us off within a week. Please don’t allow that to happen. Don’t allow them to humiliate us”, she added.

Another captive who spoke with her eyes full of tears appealed to her family members to mobilise and meet the governor.

“Governor Dauda You are our last hope; please don’t allow them to marry us,” she sobbed.

Meanwhile, the senior special assistant to the governor on media and public affairs, Suleiman Idris, said he was in transit and requested for time to respond to our correspondent’s inquiry.
