Troops seal off presidential residence over alleged coup attempt

Reports coming from neighbouring Niger Republics indicate that the residence and offices of President Mohamed Bazoum have been sealed off by presidential guard in the country.

The move comes in the wake of the alleged attempted coup by the country’s military.

Meanwhile, officials close to the president and his family say everything is under control and that talks are underway with the elite troops.

The West African state had experienced four military coups since its Independence from France in 1960 as well as numerous other attempts on power.
