EPL: Dwight Yorke reveals Jonny Evans’ position in Man United’s pecking order

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has revealed Jonny Evans’ role in the pecking order at Manchester United.

Ignoring the likes of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, York believes that Evans, who was given a one year deal this summer, should be the next guy after Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.

The Northern Irishman returned to Manchester United on a short-term deal after he was released by Leicester City

Evans’ deal with the club is only valid until the beginning of the 2023-24 campaign.

Yorke claimed he could be a good option behind Varane and Lisandro Martinez.

York told Manchester Evening News, “I think a one-year deal at Man United (for Evans) would be good.

“I think Erik ten Hag could give him that reserve role behind Raphaël Varane and Lisandro Martínez, he can be the next guy in line.

“Evans is a quality player, one that is a very competent defender and comfortable on the ball, so you could rely on him.”
