Enugu governor nominates Ekweremadu’s son as commissioner

The Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah, has nominated Lloyd Ekweremadu as one of the 15 commissioners sent to state assembly for confirmation.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the nominee is the son of the former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who is serving jail term in UK, following allegations of organ harvesting.

The governor also nominated Ada Chukwu, daughter of ex-governor of the state, Sullivan Chime.

The names were contained in a letter read on the floor of the House by the Speaker, Uche Ugwu, on Friday.

The secretary to the state government, Chidiebere Onyia, who wrote the letter on behalf of the governor, urged the house to consider the nominees promptly.

He noted that the list might not be the final list.

“While this may not be the exhaustive list, I’m optimistic that this request will receive your usual expeditious consideration”, he said.

Other nominees are veteran, Eze Aka, Ndubueze Mba, Ngozi Eni, Sam Ugwu, Chika Ugwoke and Kingsley Ude.

The list also include former commissioners, Emmanuel Obi and Okey Ogbodo, as well as Ugochi Madueke, Malachy Agbo, Gerrald Otiji, Nathaniel Urama, and Lawrence Ezeh.
