Pro-democracy group tasks Rep members to prioritize welfare of Nigerians

A coalition of about 25 pro-democracy groups under the aegis of the National Democratic Group, NDG has charged members of the House of Representatives led by its Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas to prioritize the welfare of Nigerians while discharging their duties.

Convener of the Coalition, Ochonu William, made the call in a statement issued on Tuesday to newsmen.

Ochonu said the country is currently at a critical phase and that only leaders with goodwill can help tackle the numerous challenges bedevilling it.

The statement reads partly, “We want to charge the Speaker and his team not to take their foot off the pedal.

“Nigeria is at a critical phase and only men of goodwill and purpose can help us navigate this phase”.

He expressed optimism that the sense of togetherness, and friendship between the lawmakers which birthed the recent standing committee, would result in the development of the nation.
