2023 WWC: Six countries qualify for quarter-final

At least six countries have qualified for the quarter-final of the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup taking place in New Zealand and Australia.

The six countries are England, Australia, Netherlands, Spain, Japan and Sweden.

England and Australia were the latest countries to book their places in the quarter-final stage after beating Nigeria and Denmark respectively, on Monday.

This comes following the conclusion of Monday’s Round of 16 fixtures.

Media Talk Africa reports that England defeated the Super Falcons of Nigeria 4-2 via penalty shoot-out following a 0-0 draw.

Australia, meanwhile, defeated Denmark 2-0, thanks to goals from Caitlin Foord and Hayley Raso.

The Round of 16 fixtures will continue on Tuesday.

Colombia will clash with Jamaica, while France will tackle Morocco.
