Coup: Dialogue, diplomacy best tools needed to restore democracy in Niger Republic – Peller

A former member of House of Representatives, Shina Peller, has declared that dialogue and diplomacy are the best tools needed to restore democracy in the troubled Niger Republic.

Peller, who represented Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/ Iwajowa Federal Constituency in Oyo State in 2019 and 2023, made this declaration on Friday.

The Ayedero of Yorubaland made this disclosure via a statement made available to Media Talk Africa through his Media Aide, Kola Popoola.

The former lawmaker urged the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) chaired by President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to keep intensifying its diplomatic effort.

He added that this will help to peacefully restore democracy to the country.

Peller also commended a former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, for taking courageous action to ensure peace in Niger Republic.

The former lawmaker described Sanusi as an inspiring and courageous leader who strives to make a difference beyond borders.

Peller said, “Dialogue and diplomacy are the best tools needed to restore democracy to Niger Republic.

“I urge the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), chaired by Nigeria’s President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to keep intensifying its diplomatic effort in restoring democracy to the country peacefully.

“HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the 14th Emir of Kano, is truly an inspiring leader, making a difference beyond borders. Amidst the turmoil in Niger Republic, this remarkable Leader fearlessly takes action, bridging nations for peace.

“Leadership is not just about holding positions in government, but about taking responsibility and making a positive impact. It’s about stepping up, even in challenging times, to bring about change and inspire others to do the same.”
