In a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has alleged that his fellow artist, Seyi Vibez, imitates the musical style of Asake.

During the podcast, which was co-hosted by actor Nedu, the ‘Zazu’ crooner revealed the cause of the rift between himself and Seyi Vibez.

According to Portable, “Seyi Vibez copies Asake; Mr Money.

“When I rose to fame, Seyi Vibez approached me, pleading for a performance at his show. However, I didn’t receive any payment for my services. In fact, I even contributed ₦500,000 to the event. Unfortunately, I was injured and robbed by hoodlums at the concert, losing all my jewelry. Despite the incident, I didn’t demand any compensation from Seyi. Instead, I blamed my manager for bringing me to the show.

“However, when it was time for me to headline my own show at Fela African Shrine, I extended an invitation to Seyi Vibez, who had just gained stardom at the time. Shockingly, he snubbed me. That marked the beginning of the dispute between Seyi Vibez and myself.”

Portable further expressed his intention to continue “fighting” Seyi Vibez with his “talent,” as long as award organizers persist in nominating Seyi for the title of “Best Street Artist” ahead of himself.

Additionally, Portable criticized artists who manipulate the positions of their songs on digital streaming platforms by using streaming farms.

“I am not a farmer; I am a fisherman. In our industry, there are farmer musicians and fisherman musicians. Farmer musicians resort to streaming farms to boost their positions on music charts. These artists may reach the number one spot today, but after a week, they might be charting as low as 174. This clearly demonstrates the prevalence of streaming farms in our industry.”
