In a resolute response to recent claims, Pastor Femi Fasheru, National Superintendent and Resident Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), has adamantly denied reports of the senior pastor’s retirement. Dismissing the notion as baseless, Fasheru clarified that Matthew Ashimolowo, the revered 71-year-old preacher, continues to passionately deliver sermons around the globe, averaging three to four times per week.
Addressing concerns raised by the public, Fasheru divulged that Ashimolowo diligently ministers daily through the impactful program ‘Morning Glow,’ reaching devout followers in over 50 countries. Furthermore, Fasheru revealed that the devoted man of God embraces fresh challenges and has recently founded an independent ministry, undertaking a whopping nine services every week, including the cherished Sunday services.
“Ashimolowo’s inspirational telecast, Winning Ways, gracefully touches lives throughout Africa and Europe,” Fasheru asserted. He also highlighted the invaluable contributions of Ashimolowo’s wife, Yemisi, and their son, Pastor Tobi, who both actively serve as ministers in the KICC.
Refuting the misguided rumour suggesting that Ashimolowo might divert his focus to real estate business, Fasheru unequivocally declared, “There is no iota of truth in the insinuation.” Elaborating on the misunderstanding, he explained that some reporters misinterpreted the recent groundbreaking ceremony of a 33-hectare estate in the Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos as a signal of retirement.
Expressing his disappointment in the lack of journalistic integrity displayed by those who promulgated the false narrative, Fasheru lamented, “This type of journalism skirts the border of decency and injures the reputation of the victim while courting libel for the publisher.” He concluded with an emphatic declaration of Ashimolowo’s unwavering commitment, stating, “To be sure, Ashimolowo remains a proud soldier of Christ, preaching His gospel with renewed enthusiasm as he has done for close to 50 years.”
