The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is set to showcase the remarkable strides made in promoting indigenous content in the telecommunications sector at the upcoming Nigerian Telecommunications Indigenous Content Expo (NTICE 2023). This second edition of the expo will take place from August 22-24, 2023 at the Landmark Centre in Lagos.

Under the theme “Harnessing Indigenous Content for Economic Growth: Networking to Boost Investment,” the event aims to build on the success of the inaugural expo held last year. Coordinated by the NCC’s Nigeria Office for Developing the Indigenous Telecom Sector (NODITS), the NTICE focuses on effectively implementing the National Policy on the Promotion and Implementation of Indigenous Content in the Telecommunications Sector (NPPIC).

This multisectoral event welcomes participation from indigenous telecom operators, manufacturers, regulators, government agencies, policymakers, innovators, industry leaders, startups, academia, and global experts. It provides a platform for these stakeholders to showcase their products, services, innovative solutions, and new technologies.

The NCC, empowered by the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) 2003, plays a vital role in encouraging both local and foreign investments in the Nigerian communications industry. The Commission is also responsible for introducing innovative services and practices, promoting the participation of Nigerians in the ownership, control, and management of communications companies, as well as driving the development of communication manufacturing and supply sectors.

Aligned with the provisions of the NCA 2003, the NTICE 2023 aims to promote the four key focus areas of the NPPIC: Manufacturing, Service, People, and Research and Development. These areas foster innovation in line with the Federal Government’s drive to diversify the economy.

The NTICE event serves as a unique gathering of stakeholders, facilitating the exchange of diverse ideas that advance the utilization of indigenous content in Nigeria’s telecommunications industry.

Prof. Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, highlights the significance of NTICE as Nigeria’s largest annual indigenous telecoms, tech, startups, manufacturing, and innovation event. It serves as a platform for stakeholders to forge powerful connections and establish valuable relationships, shedding light on the achievements and vast potential of a tech-driven digital economy.

The 2023 NTICE Expo will showcase the government’s achievements in promoting indigenous content within the telecommunications sector. It will also provide participants with the opportunity to present their products, services, innovative solutions, and new technologies.

To attend the event, formal registration is mandatory and interested individuals are advised to register in advance at www.ntice.ncc.gov.ng before August 22, 2023.
