In a surprising turn of events, Big Brother Naija All Stars housemate Neo Akpofure, popularly known as Neo Energy, has opened up about his ex-girlfriend Vee Iye’s attempt to reconcile with him nearly nine months after their breakup.
Neo and Vee were love interests during the Big Brother Naija “Lockdown” season, capturing the hearts of fans across the nation. However, their once-blossoming relationship came to an abrupt end after the show concluded.
During a candid conversation with fellow All Stars housemate Pere on Tuesday, Neo shed light on Vee’s efforts to repair their fractured bond. However, he revealed that he was reluctant to give her another chance as she still harbored resentment towards his cousin, Venita.
“The discord between Vee and me was minor. To this day, I don’t understand why it became a source of conflict because it was more like my ex wanting to…” Neo began, searching for the right words. He continued, “To be honest, I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before, but one of the reasons I couldn’t bring myself to give my ex-girlfriend a chance was because, nine months after our breakup, she was still holding a grudge against my cousin.”
Neo explained that he didn’t feel comfortable rekindling their relationship while Vee continued to have animosity towards his family. He believed that a healthy partnership should inspire growth and unity, not rupture existing familial connections. He recounted their final conversation, saying, “She was going off on me in a harsh tone, insisting on her resentment towards my family.”
“I realized I had to take a stand because who knows how far our relationship could go? We could have ended up getting married,” Neo expressed. “I didn’t want a situation where my family felt unwelcome in my own home because of the grudge Vee held. A partnership should empower me to build a family, not tear me apart from the one I already have. That’s the main reason I let it go.”
While their love story may have had its fair share of challenges and heartbreak, it seems that Neo is committed to prioritizing his family and maintaining a harmonious environment in his future relationships.
