Spotify, the popular online streaming platform, has unveiled the top 10 countries where Nigerian singer Ayra Starr’s songs have garnered the most streams worldwide. Victor Okpala, Spotify’s Artiste and Label Partnerships Manager for West Africa, made this announcement in a statement released in Lagos on Wednesday.
According to Okpala, Ayra Starr’s music has gained significant traction in the United States of America, France, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, the Netherlands, Germany, Canada, Sweden, South Africa, and Kenya. This reflects the global embrace of her music as she prepares for her first-ever World Tour, named ’21: The World Tour,’ in honor of her current age.
The tour will span across three continents, namely America, Africa, and Europe. The North American leg of the tour will focus primarily on the United States and Canada, where the bulk of Ayra Starr’s 2023 streams on Spotify originate.
“The top 10 countries streaming Ayra Starr’s songs according to Spotify are the United States of America, France, United Kingdom, Nigeria, Netherlands, Germany, Canada, Sweden, South Africa, and Kenya. Therefore, it makes sense that almost all of these countries are included in her tour destinations,” stated Okpala.
Having graduated from Spotify RADAR, Ayra Starr is recognized as an extraordinary musical talent and a unique voice in the music industry, particularly among Generation Z music enthusiasts. Her musical journey has thus far been a source of inspiration.
Ayra Starr’s song “Rush” has gained remarkable popularity in the USA, France, Malawi, Italy, Zimbabwe, the UK, South Africa, and Spain. Fans can expect this hit to be an integral part of her live performances. Additionally, “Rush” reigns as her most exported song among listeners in the 18-35 age group and is also the most playlisted song.
Earlier this year, Ayra Starr released the song “Sability,” which features an interpolation from Awilo Longomba’s classic album, Coupé Bibamba. This track holds the distinction of being her most streamed song in Nigeria, followed closely by Tiwa Savage’s “Stamina,” which features Ayra Starr and Young Jonn.
It’s worth noting that the love for Ayra Starr’s music extends beyond her recent releases. “Bloody Samaritan,” released in July 2021, secures the position as her second-most playlisted song and ranks among the top exported songs.
Victor Okpala also mentioned that Ayra Starr’s other top exported songs are collaborations, including her feature on “Libianca’s People” with Omah Lay, “2 Sugar” with Wizkid, and “Overloading (OVERDOSE)” with Mavins. (NAN)
