In light of recent events, former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke has candidly advised Harry Maguire to consider leaving the club.
Yorke believes that Maguire has suffered humiliation under the leadership of Erik ten Hag.
The much-anticipated move of the English defender to West Ham United failed to materialize on Tuesday due to a delay caused by negotiations over a severance fee with his current club, Manchester United.
However, the negotiations between the Hammers and Manchester United came to an abrupt end, leaving the player in a state of limbo.
It is speculated that Maguire had a change of heart about joining West Ham after Ten Hag requested him to prove himself and fight for his place in the squad.
Nevertheless, Yorke, a revered figure within the club, firmly believes that the time has come for the England international to seek a fresh start elsewhere.
“Given the manager’s public comments about Harry Maguire having to compete for his place, I don’t think he can now be considered as an option for squad depth,” Yorke expressed in an interview with OLBG.
He further added, “Leaving Manchester United should be a straightforward decision for him. The level of respect he commands within the changing room would unquestionably have diminished.”
