Jigawa State Government Receives N7bn Infrastructure Special Grants from Federal Government

The Jigawa State Government has announced the receipt of N7 billion as part of the N21 billion approved Federal Government Infrastructural Special Grants Package. This significant development comes alongside the approval of a supplementary budget of N44.7 billion by the state government. The funds are allocated towards the completion of several ongoing projects inherited from the previous administration of Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.

The Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, Babangida Umar Gantsa, emphasized the commitment of the Jigawa State Government, under the APC leadership, to enhance the living standards of its citizens. Speaking after the 3rd State Executive Council meeting, he highlighted the allocation of N13 billion to the Ministry of Works and Transport, while N3 billion each was allocated to the Ministries of Health and Education. The remaining balance from the total sum will be utilized for other services that will benefit the people of the state.

The Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sport, and Culture added that the council had also approved a sum of over N192 million for the extension of drainages in Kafin Hausa local government. These measures reflect the state government’s commitment to infrastructure development and the overall well-being of its people.

It is worth noting that Jigawa State has allocated a total budget of N185 billion for the fiscal year 2023. With the infusion of the N7 billion infrastructure special grants from the Federal Government, the state is poised to make significant strides in achieving its developmental goals.
