In a bid to restore peace and order in troubled areas, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Nigeria, recently visited the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Niger State. During his visit, General Lagbaja motivated and energized the troops, urging them to stand resolute in their mission to bring the nation’s adversaries to their knees.
The COAS’s impassioned address came after the troops bravely engaged insurgents in the Zungeru general area of Niger State, with some paying the ultimate sacrifice. General Lagbaja highlighted that the fight against insurgents and bandits is a just cause, as it aims to defend Nigerians and the nation at large.
Upon his arrival in Minna, the capital of Niger State, on Tuesday night, August 15, 2023, the Army Chief received a briefing on the current security situation from Major General Bamidele Alabi, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division. Armed with valuable insights, General Lagbaja proceeded to the Forward Operating Base Erena, in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, where he addressed the troops.
During his address, General Lagbaja emphasized, “Protecting lives and defending your nation are the noblest services anyone can offer.” He reminded the troops that they are engaged in the noble profession of arms and urged them not to let their morale dwindle. He further stressed the importance of defeating the adversaries occupying Nigerian territory, remarking, “We must take back every inch of space where they are hibernating in our land.”
General Lagbaja reassured the troops that he is committed to providing the best welfare support to the Nigerian Army personnel and their families. He declared that prioritizing their well-being is a central tenet of his Command Philosophy. Additionally, the COAS directed the immediate reinforcement of the troops with additional combat enablers to enhance their operational effectiveness.
