In celebration of former military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida (Rtd) turning 82, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has offered his heartfelt praise.
Aguri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, shared this commendation in a concise statement on Wednesday.
President Tinubu extended his congratulations to the former military President, highlighting his remarkable service in various capacities within the Nigerian army.
The President acknowledged General Babangida’s significant contributions to the growth of the nation, such as the establishment of several states to strengthen the federal structure, advancements in physical infrastructure, the liberalization of the media industry, and numerous initiatives in the health and defense sectors.
President Tinubu specifically recognized the enduring influence of General Babangida, who, despite being out of power for 30 years, continues to be a respected voice of wisdom and counsel to numerous political leaders, both in Nigeria and abroad.
General Babangida was born on August 17, 1941, in Minna, Niger State, and led the country from 1985 to 1993.
