In accordance with a ruling from the Federal High Court, the Department of State Services (DSS) has allowed Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), access to a second medical examination with a surgeon.
This decision follows Kanu’s examination by an ENT surgeon in Abuja on Wednesday.
Lead Counsel Ifeanyi Ejiofor, representing Kanu, confirmed that the DSS granted the IPOB leader access to a second medical examination, as directed by the court ruling.
Ejiofor further revealed that the ENT surgeon had been recommended by Kanu’s wife.
In a statement, Ejiofor said, “In line with our commitment to keeping the public informed about Onyendu’s legal matters and healthcare, we are pleased to inform you that as per the judgment delivered by Hon. Justice B.F.M. Nyako of the Federal High Court Abuja on July 20, 2023, the State Security Services (SSS) has allowed Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu access to medical professionals of his choice for examinations outside the SSS facility. Yesterday, on August 16, 2023, Onyendu completed his second medical examination with his chosen ENT surgeon, recommended by his wife. I was present throughout the remarkable and seamlessly conducted hour-long process.”
Ejiofor continued, “The medical examination had a significant impact, particularly considering it was performed by an acclaimed ENT surgeon at one of Abuja’s top medical facilities.”
