Peter Obi Offers Condolences to Nigerian Air Force and Victims’ Families Following Helicopter Crash

Peter Obi, a prominent figure in the Labour Party, LP, expressed his deep sadness regarding the recent crash of a Nigerian Air Force MI-171 helicopter, which tragically claimed the lives of several soldiers.

Obi, while lamenting the prevailing level of insecurity in various parts of the country, emphasized the need for urgent action to address the alarming loss of lives and property, as well as the subsequent economic implications. He also called for a comprehensive investigation into the incident to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Through a statement shared on his social media platform on Thursday, the former governor of Anambra State extended his sympathies to the Nigerian Air Force and urged them, along with other security agencies, to remain resilient in the face of ongoing challenges.

Obi further expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the brave soldiers who lost their lives in the crash.

“I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate crash of the Nigerian Air Force MI-171 Helicopter during a casualty evacuation mission near Chukuba Village in Niger State,” said Obi.

“The deplorable level of insecurity in most parts of the country has continued to bring shame upon us, resulting in the loss of precious lives and property, with grave economic consequences. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the heroic soldiers who perished in this incident.”

“I also extend my sincere condolences to the Nigerian Air Force, and I implore them, as well as other security agencies, not to lose heart in the face of these challenges. Rather, let us view them as opportunities to create a safer and more secure nation.”

Obi concluded by urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the crash, thereby preventing future tragedies.

“We must never give up on our nation. It is our most valuable heritage, for which our sacrifices acquire the status of noble deeds,” he affirmed.
