Military Secures Victories: 28 Terrorists Killed, 113 Apprehended, and 82 Hostages Rescued

The Defence Headquarters announced on Thursday that in the past two weeks, the Armed Forces of Nigeria have achieved significant milestones, eliminating 28 terrorists, capturing 113 suspects, and liberating 82 hostages in a series of successful operations conducted nationwide.

Maj Gen Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, shared these updates during a press briefing in Abuja, according to a report by NAN.

Buba disclosed that the apprehended individuals include 92 terrorists, six gunrunners, three kidnappers, six collaborators, and seven perpetrators involved in oil theft.

He further revealed that the troops successfully recovered a substantial cache of weapons, including 22 AK-47 rifles, a PKT gun, six pump-action guns, four Dane guns, a fabricated rifle, a Galil ace rifle, one RGP bomb, one RPG tube, and 44 hand grenades. In addition, 108 weapons and 564 rounds of ammunition were seized.

“The recovered arsenal also includes 322 rounds of 7.62mm special, 63 rounds of 12.7mm ammo, 12 rounds of 5.6mm ammo, 33 AK47 magazines, one empty case of 7.62mm special, and three empty magazines. Other items retrieved from the suspects include 14 motorcycles, 16 mobile phones, three Motorolla radios, one Boafeng radio, two motorcycle tyres, five torch lights, two solar panels, 104 livestock, and the sum of N2.8 million,” stated Buba.
