The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has pledged to establish additional military formations in Zaria to combat the increasing wave of bandit attacks. Tajudeen made this assurance during a condolence visit to the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Bamalli, at his palace in Zaria on Friday. The purpose of the visit was to commiserate with the emirate over the recent mosque collapse and the surge in bandit attacks in Zaria and its surrounding areas.

“As the leadership of the national assembly, we have been engaging with the relevant security agencies to find better ways of addressing this challenge,” Tajudeen stated. “I am pleased to inform the emir that our engagement has produced positive results, as the Nigerian army has pledged to establish additional camps along the identified routes used by the bandits.”

In addition to addressing the security concerns, Tajudeen assured the emir of his commitment to working closely with the emirate council to facilitate the prompt renovation of the collapsed mosque.

The Emir Bamalli expressed his gratitude for the speaker’s visit and urged him to extend the same support to other volatile areas within the emirate. Specifically, the emir requested the establishment of military camps in Kurege, Kugu, and other western areas of the ancient city of Zaria.

During the visit, several principal officers and members of the national assembly accompanied the speaker and made generous donations towards the renovation of the mosque.
