Governor Zulum Approves N308 Million for Scholarships, Eases Financial Burden on Indigent Students

In a move that will provide much-needed relief to thousands of indigent students in Borno State, Governor Babagana Zulum has approved the release of N308 million for the payment of scholarships. The funds will benefit 14,416 students and help cover outstanding entitlements for the 2021/2022 academic session.

The announcement was made by Bala Isa, the Executive Secretary of the Borno State Scholarship Board, during a news conference in Maiduguri on Friday. He stated that this financial support will enable the Board to complete the payment process for the current academic session and shift its focus to the 2022/2023 session.

Governor Zulum recognized the economic challenges faced by parents as students resume academic activities and their academic demands increase. By approving this scholarship payment, he aims to alleviate the burden on parents and ensure that students can focus on their studies without financial worries.

The governor also urged students to be diligent, committed, and dedicated to their studies while making effective use of their allowances for their academic development.

Ahmad Kyari, an official of the National Union of Borno State Students (NUBOSS), expressed appreciation for the timely gesture. He assured that the allowances received would be utilized properly to achieve academic excellence.

With this significant investment in education, Governor Zulum reaffirms his commitment to providing equal opportunities for the less privileged and ensuring that they can access quality education without financial constraints.
