PDP Encourages Wike to Accept Tinubu’s Ministerial Appointment

In a surprising twist, former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, reveals that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supported his decision to accept the ministerial position offered by the Bola Tinubu administration.

Wike, who humorously referred to the PDP leaders as “reggae dancers” for their threats of sanctions, confidently asserts that the party was well aware of his intentions before he accepted the appointment.

Furthermore, Wike discloses that it was Tinubu who wrote to the 36 state governors, including those from the PDP, to nominate individuals for ministerial positions, and they duly submitted ten names each.

During his first press briefing as a minister of the Federal Republic in Abuja on Monday, Wike challenges anyone to name his enemy, highlighting his commitment to the truth.

“Let me clarify any misconceptions. They claimed they would sanction me for accepting the appointment, but I am not bound by any clause. The president wrote to all 36 state governors asking for nominations. Did PDP governors not submit names?” Wike questions, highlighting the widespread participation of PDP governors in the process.

Wike proceeds to emphasize that, before accepting the appointment, he corresponded with several key officials within the PDP, including the national chairman, minority leaders of the House of Representatives and Senate, zonal chairman of the party, and his state chairman. Their unanimous response was for him to accept the offer.

Asserting his preparedness for any challenge to his claim, Wike asserts, “I have documented evidence to support my position. Disregard these reggae dancers; I refer to them as such due to their arrogance and impunity once they lose an opportunity.”
