Oluremi Tinubu, the Wife of Nigeria’s President, believes that brighter days are ahead for the nation and urges Nigerians to remain hopeful despite the current challenges.
Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, Mrs. Tinubu welcomed the Wives of Service Chiefs and the Inspector General of Police, led by Mrs. Oghogho Musa, the wife of the Chief of Defence Staff and President of the Defence and Police Wives Association.
The First Lady assured the group that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is actively working to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal until the policy’s benefits become evident.
Furthermore, she emphasized how her pet project, the Renewed Hope Initiative, is supporting the government’s efforts and thus seeks the support of the wives of the Service Chiefs.
“We will need your various Associations from time to time, at least to be able to reach out to women in your various barracks, to reassure them that we have the best interests of this country at heart. We ask for their patience as we work towards ameliorating the effects of the subsidy. We believe there is always light at the end of the tunnel,” expressed Mrs. Tinubu.
She added, “We are striving for a greater Nigeria and we aim to leave a legacy that our children and future generations will be proud of—a country where we can unite as Nigerians, prioritize the nation’s welfare, and enhance its prosperity.”
The First Lady also announced that the Renewed Hope Initiative would soon extend its assistance to the vulnerable widows of fallen national heroes.
Welcoming the delegation, Mrs. Oghogho Musa, the leader of the group and President of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association, assured Mrs. Tinubu of their readiness to collaborate with the Renewed Hope Initiative. This partnership would encompass various sectors, including agriculture, education, health, economic empowerment, and social investment, as they align with the interests of all the associations.
Consequently, Mrs. Tinubu was honored as the Grand Matron of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association, as stipulated in the associations’ constitution.
