Nigeria’s new Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Musa Dangiwa, has expressed the significance of teamwork, collaboration, innovation, hard work, and open communication in accomplishing President Bola Tinubu’s vision of renewed hope for Nigerians.

The Minister made these remarks upon being welcomed, alongside Minister for State Adullahi Tijjjani-Gwarzo, to the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Dangiwa, recognizing the immense responsibility that comes with leading the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, vowed to bring about historic changes during his tenure.

“With your support, I firmly believe that we will make a profound difference in fulfilling this duty,” Dangiwa said.

He continued, “I firmly believe that housing is not merely about brick and mortar; it is about creating communities, nurturing families, and ensuring that every Nigerian has a place they can call home. I am here to collaborate with you in making that vision a reality.”

Dangiwa also emphasized the Ministry’s responsibility to establish an enabling environment and formulate policies that empower the agencies under its purview to fulfill their functions optimally.

“This will be the central focus of my leadership, and I urge all of you to align your efforts with this vision,” he added.

Describing his assumption of duty as a new era, the Minister revealed his plans to embark on bold initiatives aimed at championing strategic housing reforms and dismantling systemic barriers to housing and urban development.

“We will work closely with the National Assembly to review relevant laws, streamline land and housing administration, and create an enabling environment for investment in the housing sector,” Dangiwa stated.

He further stressed the prioritization of the 500-billion-naira recapitalization of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, which will provide it with leverage and enhance its ability to offer more affordable mortgage loans and rent-to-own options to Nigerians.

The Minister also expressed his intention to reform the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) and other housing agencies, equipping them with the necessary capacity and technological advancements to provide world-class services to Nigerians.

In an effort to unleash the construction industry’s potential in generating employment and contributing to President Buhari’s economic plan of lifting over 100 million Nigerians out of poverty, the Ministry will embrace innovative housing construction financing solutions to unlock the funds required for delivering mass affordable housing nationwide, Dangiwa revealed.

“In the coming days, we will unveil our strategic Housing and Urban Development Blueprint, which will outline our priorities, initiatives, and reforms,” Dangiwa announced.
