The troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) and Operation Hakorin Damisa IV have apprehended 39 criminal suspects involved in cases of banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and drug trafficking. These successful operations also led to the recovery of various weapons, ammunition, and illicit substances.
The suspects were arrested at different locations within the Joint Operation Area of Operation Safe Haven and the 3rd Division Nigerian Army Area of Responsibility. Notably, two of the suspects were wanted for their involvement in multiple armed robberies and kidnapping activities.
The seized items include an AK 47 rifle, a pump-action magnum gun, an AK 47 magazine, 14 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and an Itel mobile phone. In a separate operation, a suspected kidnapper and arms dealer were apprehended in Kuba village, Bokkos LGA, Plateau State.
In another successful operation, two militia gang members who were part of recent attacks in the Heipang general area were captured. The troops confiscated two AK 47 rifles, seven fabricated rifles, and four pump-action cartridges during this operation. Additionally, a drug syndicate operating in Bassa LGA was dismantled, resulting in the arrest of seven drug peddlers and the seizure of a substantial quantity of illicit drugs.
Furthermore, troops arrested a total of 307 cows that were grazing on farmlands belonging to locals in Kubat Community, Mangu, and Mabel village, Bokkos LGAs.
During the period, Operation Safe Haven promptly responded to 37 distress calls, leading to the successful rescue of 17 kidnapped victims and the prevention of cattle rustling and attacks on vulnerable communities, primarily in Mangu, Barkin Ladi, and Riyom LGAs.
