Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, expressed President Bola Tinubu’s strong commitment to empowering Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for the advancement of the nation’s economy. In a statement released by the Director of Information, Office of the Vice President, Olusola Abiola, Senator Shettima emphasized the crucial role of MSMEs in empowering the youth and women and contributing to the overall economic development of the country.

“The empowerment of MSMEs is vital in harnessing the potential of our youth and women to drive the economic growth of our nation,” stated the Vice President.

He further highlighted President Tinubu’s compassion and declared that Nigeria will experience positive changes in the coming months under his leadership. Senator Shettima recognized the economic impact of MSMEs, stating that their growth will not only support families but also add value to the nation.

During his visit to the BRICS Trade Fair, the Vice President commended the organizers for bringing together over 180 exhibitors from various sectors of the economy. He emphasized the importance of these exhibitions in stimulating investment and trade across the continent.

Senator Shettima also took the opportunity to express his admiration for the investments made by Nigerians in South Africa. He noted the active participation of Nigerians in the digital economy, fashion industry, and mining sector. The Vice President acknowledged the significant contributions of Nigerian investment outfit, Rose Bank, in funding a 40 billion Naira cassava project, and expressed his hope that this success will inspire similar projects in other parts of the country.

The BRICS Trade Fair, organized by BRIC South Africa & The SA BRICS Business Council (SABBC) in collaboration with the Department of Trade Industry and Competition, serves as a platform for showcasing products and services from the BRICS countries. Its aim is to facilitate business-to-business interactions that will boost intra-BRICS trade and investments.

Accompanying Vice President Shettima to the Trade Fair were Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Ambassador Muhammad Haruna Manta, the Consul-General, Ambassador Andrew Idi, and other senior government officials.

With President Tinubu’s unwavering dedication to empowering MSMEs and the concerted efforts of the government, Nigeria is poised for economic growth and prosperity.
