Jigawa State Assembly Greenlights Appointment of 50 New Special Advisers for Governor Namadi

In a significant move, the Jigawa State House of Assembly has given its nod to the appointment of fifty additional special advisers for Governor Umar Namadi. This announcement was made by the Speaker of the House, Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, who expressed his support for the governor’s request to strengthen his advisory team.

Earlier, the House had already granted approval for the appointment of twenty-five advisers, as reported by Media Talk Africa.

Introducing the governor’s request on the floor of the House, Speaker Dangyatin stated, “In accordance with the provisions of Sections 96 (1) and (2) of Part II of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), I hereby seek the consideration and approval of the State Legislature to appoint 50 Special Advisers to the Government of Jigawa State.”

Section 91 (1) of the Constitution empowers the governor to appoint individuals as special advisers to aid him in carrying out his duties. However, Section 96 (2) mandates that the number of advisers must be determined by a resolution of the State House of Assembly.

The governor’s request aligns with the administration’s commitment to executing a diverse range of socio-economic development projects outlined in the 12-point agenda: “Development for Greater Jigawa.”

Highlighting the importance of this approval, Speaker Dangyatin remarked that it would enhance the efficiency of the state administration, ensuring smooth operations and effective governance.
