Adams Oshiomhole, former National Chairman of the APC and representative for Edo-North Senatorial District, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that it will be remembered for its transformative impact on Nigeria’s socio-economic and political landscape.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Wednesday, Oshiomhole highlighted Tinubu’s commitment to laying a solid foundation for development in the country.
He specifically praised the president for breaking the jinx in appointing ministers for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). One significant appointment that demonstrated this was Nyesom Wike as FCT Minister, regardless of his birthplace or linguistic background.
“This singular move shows that anyone can become the minister regardless of their birthplace, tongue, and dialect,” Oshiomhole said. “For me, one of the ground-breaking decisions President Tinubu has taken is to give every part of Nigeria a hope that regardless of your birthplace, tongue or dialect, you can be the Minister of the FCT.”
Oshiomhole emphasized the importance of having ministers who possess leadership qualities and can effectively drive the government’s agenda. He expressed hope that Tinubu’s government would be recognized as the one that rectified the issues that previous administrations couldn’t resolve.
“This will not be a government of lamentation, but one that will do what others failed to do,” Oshiomhole added.
The former National Chairman also commended Tinubu for appointing Eng. Abubakar Momoh as the Minister of Niger Delta Development, recognizing this as a significant honor for Edo State.
Oshiomhole applauded Tinubu’s courage and consistency in promoting inclusivity in national leadership, stating that every Nigerian deserves an opportunity to excel regardless of their regional background:
“The president deserves a resounding applause for the honor done to Edo in making a bold statement that anybody can be anything from any part of the country. As you can see, the president has broken so many grounds; several things that former presidents could not do, even military presidents.”
He urged Nigerians to pray for Tinubu’s continued energy, vision, courage, and open-mindedness, to ensure that every citizen feels a sense of belonging in the country. Oshiomhole also congratulated Minister Abubakar Momoh and encouraged him to add value to the Niger Delta region.
Furthermore, Oshiomhole stressed the importance of the Niger Delta region receiving fair compensation for the oil resources extracted from its territory, as it would bring joy to the people and contribute to the president’s satisfaction.
The former National Chairman concluded by expressing his appreciation to the royal fathers in the region for gracing Minister Momoh’s inauguration with their presence and bestowing their blessings upon him.
