Nigerian Governors to Attend UNDP Leadership Retreat in Rwanda

Several Nigerian governors are set to participate in a three-day leadership retreat organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kigali, Rwanda. The retreat, scheduled to take place from 24th to 27th August, is part of the UNDP’s commitment to advancing governance standards in Africa and beyond.

The retreat aims to introduce a new approach to leadership, empowering participants to address challenges and transform them into opportunities. Highlighting the dynamic nature of the world we live in, the retreat will explore topics such as the impact of digital transformation and disruptive innovation, climate change, and the future of development influenced by emerging technologies.

Participants will engage in experiential learning, collaboration, and reflection, equipping them with the necessary skills and competencies to navigate complex and uncertain environments. The program will feature renowned facilitators from around the world, leading sessions on various topics such as the future of Nigeria, effective leadership communication, revenue generation, and personal mastery.

Notable speakers at the retreat include Governors Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, former President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, and Arkebe Oqubay, senior minister and special adviser to the prime minister of Ethiopia. Other distinguished speakers include Asishana Okauru, director-general of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and Ahunna Eziakonwa, Assistant Secretary-General and Director of UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Africa.

The retreat, organized in partnership with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, will provide participating leaders with enhanced leadership skills, knowledge, and the mindset required to lead and inspire others.
