Kwara State Governor Provides 1,000 Life Jackets to Enhance Safety in Patigi Community

The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has taken a proactive step to ensure the safety of the people of Patigi by distributing 1,000 life jackets, mitigating the risk of drowning in the event of a boat mishap.

Located in the Kwara North Senatorial District, Patigi is among the 16 Local Government Areas in Kwara State.

During a meeting with some first-class monarchs, Governor AbdulRazaq handed over the life jackets to the Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Umar Bologi II. The meeting was convened to discuss security concerns and the general well-being of the people.

Expressing his intent, the governor stated, “A similar initiative will also be extended to Edu Local Government and other riverine areas within the state, promoting safe water travel,” Governor AbdulRazaq assured.

The governor continued, “This donation marks just the beginning. We intend to provide sufficient life-saving equipment along the banks of River Niger and the riverine communities in Edu Local Government and other regions. Our commitment to addressing health and safety concerns is unwavering,” Governor AbdulRazaq affirmed.

The ceremony, which served as a symbol of the governor’s dedication to ensuring safety, was attended by Jide Asonibare, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Alhaji Umar Bologi II, the Vice Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs and Etsu Patigi, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Ismaila Yahaya Alebiosu, the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Alhaji Muazu Shehu Omar, the Emir of Kaiama, and Oba AbdulRaheem Oladele Adeoti, the Olomu of Omu Aran.

In response to this noble gesture, Etsu Bologi II expressed his gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq for his efforts in safeguarding the community. He stated, “On behalf of myself and the entire people of Patigi Emirate Council, we sincerely thank Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for this generous donation of life jackets to our farmers and fishermen residing in riverine areas. We pray that Almighty Allah guides and protects him as we continue to witness progress under his administration,” Etsu Bologi II conveyed.

As part of the state government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing water travel and safety, a team was dispatched to the Lagos Office of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
