The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, announced that the ministry will soon initiate the verification process for the social registrar. This verification is crucial to ensure transparency in the distribution of fuel subsidy palliatives.

Dr. Edu shared this information in an interview with Channels Television, monitored by Media Talk Africa, on Friday.

She emphasized that the ministry is committed to promptly commencing the distribution of these palliatives.

Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, tackling poverty is of paramount importance.

Furthermore, Dr. Edu stated that the government aims to provide job opportunities as a means to alleviate poverty.

“We are beginning with the verification of the social registrar to guarantee that it consists of deserving individuals who require the funds. Concurrently, we will be creating jobs in the humanitarian field,” she explained.

The ministry aims to distribute palliatives to alleviate the adverse effects of fuel subsidy removal.

“Our approach will be transparent, ensuring that Nigerians are well-informed. By 2030, our target is to uplift 133 million Nigerians out of poverty,” she affirmed.

Media Talk Africa previously reported that upon assuming office on Monday, Dr. Edu pledged her dedication to lifting 133 million Nigerians out of poverty.
