In a bid to minimize the alarming rate of road mishaps in Taraba state, the Taraba State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has pledged its commitment to ensuring road safety.
During a press conference in Jalingo on Friday, the Sector Commander, Abdulmaliq Bello, emphasized that his utmost priority is to drastically reduce road fatalities and, ideally, eliminate them entirely.
“My goal is to prevent accidents from resulting in fatalities. While crashes may still occur, the outcome should never be loss of life,” stated Bello.
Bello further highlighted the successful implementation of Speed Limit Devices by the command, which has yielded positive outcomes in terms of road safety.
He also mentioned that a dedicated team has been deployed to regularly visit various motor parks, educating drivers on the importance of cautious driving to avoid accidents.
Addressing the prevalent issue of potholes on Nigerian roads, Bello acknowledged their existence but asserted that the presence of speed limit signs along the highways ought to discourage overspeeding.
“Thanks to our relentless enlightenment campaigns, road accidents have significantly decreased in the state,” added Bello, expressing optimism about the ongoing progress.
