Super Falcons’ Chikwelu Shines in Al Shabab Debut, Despite Loss to Orthodox Club

Nigerian midfielder Rita Chikwelu made an impactful debut for Saudi Arabian club Al Shabab, scoring two goals in a thrilling match against Orthodox Club.

Despite Chikwelu’s impressive performance, Al Shabab fell short, losing the contest 4-3.

Orthodox Club took an early lead with two goals in the first 19 minutes of the game.

In the second half, the hosts extended their lead with another goal five minutes after the break.

Chikwelu, however, managed to reduce the deficit with a well-timed header in the 60th minute.

Showing her prowess on the field, the 34-year-old Nigerian midfielder scored her second goal just two minutes later.

Al Shabab’s hopes of a comeback were given a boost when Oriana Altuve equalized three minutes from time.

However, Orthodox Club secured victory with a goal in stoppage time.

Chikwelu, who joined Al Shabab this week on a free transfer, showcased her talent and demonstrated her commitment to her new club.
